EcoGuard: Halogen-Free Melamine Phosphate Flame Retardant

MP, also known as Melamine Phosphate, possesses non-toxic and odorless characteristics, making it safe for various applications. It exhibits insolubility in water and most organic solvents. With exceptional thermal stability, FR-MP stands out as the preferred compound, ensuring the highest processing stability. Its flame retardancy is attributed to the synergistic effect between phosphorus and nitrogen (P-N). Additionally, MP and its derivatives offer excellent flame retardancy by effectively matching the decomposition temperature with the coating decomposition temperature, thereby increasing the quantity of the carbon layer.

MP, or Melamine Phosphate, finds its primary application in intumescent flame retardant systems for paints and polymers, where it combines the functionalities of melamine and catalyst. It also finds use in thermosets like unsaturated polyester, epoxies, EVA, as well as in textile treatment. In self-charring materials such as cellulose or epoxy, FR-MP can be utilized as a standalone flame retardant without the need for additional additives.
