DMPY Halogen-Free Dimelamine Pyrophosphate
I. Product Introduction
DMPY (Dimelamine Pyrophosphate) is a white crystalline powder, an environmentally friendly halogen-free nitrogen-phosphorus flame retardant. It functions through a triple synergistic mechanism: condensed-phase intumescent char formation, gas-phase inert dilution, and free-radical capture. At elevated temperatures, the released pyrophosphoric acid catalyzes dehydration and crosslinking of the polymer substrate to form a dense char layer, while the non-combustible gases generated dilute the combustible gas concentration, effectively suppressing flame spread. The product offers excellent thermal stability, low water solubility, low smoke geneation, and non-hygroscopic properties, making it an ideal substitute for APP-II type flame retardants.
II. Product Technical Data Sheet
III. Product Features
1. Halogen-free & environmentally friendly – Contains no halogens; does not release hydrogen halides, dioxins, or other toxic gases during combustion. Complies with RoHS, REACH and other international environmental standards.
2. Excellent thermal stability – Decomposition temperature ≥300°C; can withstand prolonged exposure at 200°C, suitable for engineering plastics and high-temperature processing systems.
3. Low water solubility – Insoluble in water, with good water resistance; maintains flame retardant performance even in humid environments.
4. Significant smoke suppression – Low smoke generation and low smoke density; no melt dripping during combustion.
5. Flexible synergistic compounding – Can be used in combination with other flame retardants such as ammonium polyphosphate (APP), or used alone as a flame retardant.
IV. Application
· Suitable substrates: Polyolefins (PP, PE), coatings, wood, fibres, rubbers (SBR, NBR, polypropylene-based elastomers), thermoplastics, thermosetting plastics, and engineering resins.
· Recommended addition level:

The above addition levels are for reference only. Actual dosage should be determined through trials based on the specific polymer system, target flame retardancy rating, and processing conditions.
· Processing recommendation: The product exhibits good thermal stability and can be processed up to 300°C. It is recommended to dry at 80°C for 2-3 hours before use to remove surface moisture. It can be mixed thoroughly with the base resin and other additives, then processed via extrusion, injection moulding, or coating.
· Compounding suggestion: Can be used in combination with other flame retardants such as ammonium polyphosphate (APP) to further enhance flame retardant efficiency.
V. Package Storage & Transportation
1. Packed in paper and plastic bags, 25kg/bag.
2. Storage in cool dry place.
3. Transported as non-dangerous chemical goods.
