7. Preparation of smoke-suppressing biomass-based phosphorus-containing flame retardant

Main Functions:
The phosphorus- and nitrogen-containing flame-retardant polyol exhibits excellent flame-retardant performance. Through its unique molecular design, it can generate non-combustible gases such as nitrogen and water vapor, effectively diluting oxygen concentration in the air, carrying away part of the heat, and reducing the combustion temperature, thereby achieving outstanding flame-retardant effects.
It contains no harmful substances such as halogens. The introduction of phosphorus and nitrogen enhances the thermal stability of the flame-retardant polyol. The synergistic interaction between phosphorus and nitrogen flame-retardant elements ensures more durable and stable flame-retardant performance. The flame-retardant polyol can reduce smoke generation, decrease the release of toxic substances, and improve fire safety performance.
Integrating the phosphorus-nitrogen “gas source,” rosin “carbon source,” and multi-metal “catalytic cross-linking” into one bio based molecular chain, a seven-step synthesis directly produces a “low-moke, halogen-free, self-cross-linking” liquid flame retardant. Upon exposure to fire, it simultaneously expands to form char and releases non-flammable gases, suppressing both heat and smoke at once. This allows PC/PU/epoxy composites to easily pass UL94-V0, while also offering environmental benefits and cost advantages—truly delivering “security grown from plants.”
